I’ve been a dog lover all my life, growing up with golden retrievers. I first began looking into OES in 1997 when a good friend had gotten a beautiful oes puppy. Who couldn’t fall in love with an oes puppy? I began looking into the breed and the more I learned the more I knew they were the breed for me. There weren’t any puppies available at the time, but I did get a call about a rescue. Someone had bought her from a petstore and decided she was “too much” We were thrilled to have her, a sweet dog with every bad habit one could imagine. We believe she originally came from a puppy mill in the US based on her tattoo, incorrect temperment and neurotic behaviour. I loved her anyway. She was my “learning” dog. In 2003 Dancer joined our family, my little dresden doll. She is a princess in every way, so loving and ladylike, she won’t step in mud, doesn’t like wet gras. She and I have a special bond, when she looks at me my heart melts :) OES are like potato chips, you can’t stop at just one! Sky joined our family in 2004, she is a clown who makes me laugh with every pounce and bum wiggle, head cocked to the side wondering what’s so funny. In early 2006 Panda entered the melee. The relationships we form with our dogs, and that they form with each other still amazes me. You wonder how you could have enough love for all, but it really does just grow as the family grows :) Panda is a funny girl who loves the show ring and is happy anywhere, anytime LOL My venture into the world of showing OES began in 2004. I’m hooked on showing... the sights, sounds, even the smells! The feeling of anticipation and adrenaline, there’s nothing like it. It was my dream for a long time to raise and show OES. I have spent these years researching the breed, the standard, health issues, learning from scientists, vets, and most importantly more experienced OES breeders. The learning never stops, I love everything about these dogs... maybe there should be a 12 step program. My family is very supportive of my endeavors, and enjoy their furry family members as well. There’s certainly no shortage of attention for them, someone always has a dog’s head resting under their hand for petting :) I hope you enjoy my site :) Feel free to contact me with questions or comments. lakesongoes@gmail.com |
